WHO ARE WE?
Alycorn is a mythical being, that is considered to be as a force for all the good and magical things our world. They are best described as a Unicorn with wings (as if being an unicorn wasn't magical enough)! We at Alycorn Media believe that story-telling, in all forms, IS pure magic!
Humans have shared this magic through our history whether when sitting around the bonfire with your tribe, or when painting about your experiences on the walls of caves, or when telling stories to your young ones before they sleep, stories have been used to teach, to express, to share emotions, to create connections, to recall information and to store memories.
It is with the mission of sharing this magic that Alycorn Media was born. We endeavour to bring to you unique stories from around the world, stories that will make you laugh, cry, feel anxious or angry, but will definitely be a powerful experience that will make you think, ponder, understand and question the world around us.
OUR STORY
Alycorn Media was founded in 2023 by Purnima Raghunath, a Emmy Nominated and Sundance Grand Jury Award winning Documentary Producer who has been creating content for film and television for over 20 years. Her work has screened at film festivals around the world and can be seen on outlets such as Netflix, National Geographic, Discovery and BBC among others.
Purnima has a reputation for taking on varied subjects and bringing unique stories to the world, from social and cultural issues to science and human rights. Her first feature documentary, The Price of Free, on the subject of child slavery that she co produced with Davis Guggenheim and Sarah Anthony. It won the coveted GRAND JURY PRIZE at the Sundance Film Festival 2018. It also went on to being Nominated for EMMYS in 2019. She also was the producer for the international Netflix series PANDEMIC: HOW TO PREVENT AN OUTBREAK, nominated for an EMMY for Outstanding Science & Technology Documentary in 2021. Purnima is also the recipient of the City of London Festival’s City in Motion Short Film Award in 2008 and the Satyajit Ray Foundation (UK) Best Short Film Award also in 2008.
Although based in New Delhi, Purnima’s passion for telling stories has taken her all over India and around the world. She actively collaborates with equally passionate story tellers from around the world to bring unique stories to the world.
